Bullet, Bullet, Bullet

Alas the time has come for us to leave Tokyo. Hi, Tokyo you are wacky, hilarious and overwhelming. The people are so helpful when a couple of idiot Americans stand around confused like a monkey trying to do a math problem.

Today we are heading to Kyoto which is about a 5 1/2 hour drive from Tokyo but we will be getting there in about half the time because we are taking A BULLET TRAIN!

First stop is we have to get to Tokyo station...

Which we were told was one of the most banana pants train stations in all of Tokyo. It apparently puts  Union Station in NYC to shame in sheer size and confusion. But somehow we managed to find exactly where we needed to go in about five minutes...

Shinkansen is the high speed rail system that we were going to be taking...

Jeff has a history of being excited about trains...that is until he gets on one of them

Jeff clearly had his priorities in check...

And they only had one bottle of wine because who drinks wine before noon...oh yeah, US!

Aaaaand once again Jeff is having a great time on the train...

This train goes around 200mph so the scenery was zipping by pretty quickly, so it's sort of hit or miss if you get a picture of scenery or an electric pole...

Exhibit A...

Exhibit B...

The further we got away from Tokyo the more hills started to pop up...

And I tried taking some videos to get a better view of the scenery. Hopefully these work...

The last one I took, I ended up catching another bullet train as it flew past us...

Before we knew it we made it to Kyoto Station. I cant believe that we managed to get here without doing anything wrong...

Well I spoke too soon because apparently our passes don't work on the Kyoto subway system so some nice old man came to help us out. I'll say it again my big takeaway from Japan is the hospitality. Japanese people are the most helpful people I have ever met. Even when there is a complete language barrier they will go above and beyond to try and help you out.

Now that we are free, we are heading over to our hotel, which of course is called the Princess Hotel. Tonight we are going to something called the Ninja restaurant. Should be interesting...
