Dreams of Sushi

When I first booked this trip, one of the things I was most looking forward to was the food.  When I was in Japan ten years ago, I remember just about every meal we had was beyond insanely good.  Especially the sushi.

But with so many choices...

...where to begin?

In my search for a delicious high-end sushi place, I hit a couple of roadblocks.  Many have strict reservation policies (real example: You may only make a reservation on the first of the month prior to your visit...), but most I looked into were simply already booked, and those that were not would only take reservations from locals.

So I enlisted the help of our hotel concierge, who was able to get us a space at the counter of Kyubey, located at the luxurious Keio Plaza Hotel.

After we were asked to remove our shoes...

...we made our way into the space which had room for 10-12 people...

...and chose one of the set courses...

I'm not a food blogger, for reasons which will become quite clear very soon, so I'll just show you some photos and tell you that HOLY FUCKING SHIT EVERYTHING WAS SUPER DELISH.

I managed to take notes on what were were eating...

...which, as you can see, got sloppier as the sake and beer came into play.

Anyway, here are some of the delights specially prepared by this chef:

The food was insanely melt-in-your-mouth good.  Super fresh, super delicious.

And when I say fresh...

Before!
...I mean F R E S H.

After!

I think my favorite had to be the mackerel.

No. I did not shout "Holy Mackerel" upon eating it.  Don't be a dick.

I can't rave enough about how amazing this place was.  The food even out-shined the toilet, which, since you asked, was pretty great, too:

And now you know why I am not a food blogger.

Burp.
